Ostrich Egg Lamps
(mosaic bead work on translucent ostrich egg shell)
Ostrich egg shells are about 18 inches in circumference, and can be nearly 0.125 inches thick. I cover them with a flat layer of tranparent glass beads (each about the size of a pin head) in unique designs. I then construct a custom lamp base for each one, using aged brass, with a 4 watt bulb assembly and a 6-foot fabric covered cord with switch. A 1-inch hole in the bottom of each shell allows a light tension spring to hold it in place over the bulb. Price information upon request.
