The Art Studio

My studio, JAG's Art Studio at the Beach, is a three-story waterfront home, studio and gallery, where I have lived since 1985. On continuous display are over 100 pieces of art including my original paintings, giclee prints, drawings, 3-D pieces and mobiles. Paintings in the studio range in size from 7" x 10" to 4' x 8', and prices vary beginning at $90. I am available for commissions, murals and children's portraits [see"Laura at the Beach" and Joseph in his Shades" under More Paintings].
The studio's unobstructed view of the Pacific, at Ocean Beach, has drawn surfers from around the world to this area. Inspiration

My love of the beach and the life that surrounds it is an ongoing inspiration that influences most of my artwork. My newest series of paintings, Surfers & Beach Life, is rendered in acrylic in an almost photo-realistic style. Another group of abstract mixed-media paintings, entitled Time Pieces, is a series of textured canvases with small pieces of mirrors, sand and broken watch parts embedded in thickly applied acrylic paint. My portfolio also includes impressionistic and representational paintings of California native flowers, and some scenes of Healdsburg, California, near our family cabin in the wine country. Painters who have added to my inspiration and motivation include Robert Bechtle, Anna Conti, E. Dale Erickson, David Hockney, and Paul Pratchenko.
