"I was interested in doing a full length nude portrait of David for a few reasons. Male artists frequently paint nude female models; however, I can't recall ever seeing a portrait or self-portrait of a male artist nude. I thought that David would make a wonderful subject. Thankfully, he was graciously willing to go along with me and pose for this painting.
 
The painting was done quite quickly (in two sessions with the model). I was thinking about the Bay Area figurative artists, especially David Park, while working on it."
