Looking at paintings...
a painter's view.
The last week of the "old" deYoung Museum.

Sunset District artist, Anna Conti was a neighbor to the deYoung Museum and spent many hours there. After the deYoung closed in December, Anna began work on a series of paintings expressing her feelings for the collection and documenting the old building. Most of the paintings are of the interior galleries, showing people standing in front of paintings. Their postures reflect their involvement with the images in front of them. One of Anna's paintings captures the vaulted ceiling and and skylight of Hearst Court during a musical performance. And a few of her paintings are devoted to the exterior of the building, with particular attention to the stately palm trees near the entrance.

Anna's deYoung paintings will be exhibited at the Canvas Gallery right across from the entrance to Golden Gate Park, and almost in sight of the source of her inspiration.
